Headquarters
  DETAILS   The office of the MAP are situated in Ta Xbiex Malta and the General Secretary is seconded by the government to work on full-time basis with the association.  This scheme is supported by the Office of the Prime-Minister.  
The Committee is composed of the Executive Board and the Operations and Administration Division.  The Executive Board is composed by the President, the Senior vice-President, the vice-President, the Treasurer and the General Secretary. The Operations and Administration Division is composed by the General Secretary, the Communications Co-ordinator, the Continuous Professional Development Co-ordinator and the Public relations Co-ordinator.  

The MAP has three working groups which are the Education Matters Working Group, the  Regulation/EU matters Working Group and the Professional Issues Working Group.  


  INFORMATION AND NUMBERS   There is one school of physiotherapy on the island, forming part of the University of Malta at Faculty of Health Science.  

The school runs a 4 year degree course leading to Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Physiotherapy.

The Physiotherapy school is a member of ENPHE.



Status of profession
  TITLE AND REGULATIONS ON THE PROFESSION   Professional Title/ Qualification:
B.Sc. (Honours) Physiotherapy 

Rules of professional conduct are presently determined by the state through the Council for the Professions Complimentary to Medicine (CPCM). 

All physiotherapists must be state registered and obtain a licence to practice.

The practice of physiotherapy is professionally autonomous but not self-regulated.

  INSURANCE AND PRACTICE REGULATIONS   The major employer of Physiotherapists in Malta is the Department of Health, where physiotherapy is provided in the General State Hospital and Specialised State Hospitals for free and supported by National Insurance.

Physiotherapists also work in the private sector, in private hospitals and clinics around the island.
