| DETAILS | The "Danske Fysioterapeuter" is the only physiotherapy association in Denmark and is a trade union as well as a professional and educational body. The headquarter has 38 staff employees and a full time employed managing director. The association holds monthly executive meetings and furthers liasions with other health care professions and authorities. | ||||||||||||

Physiotherapy Education |

| INFORMATION AND NUMBERS | The national physiotherapy education is a diploma course of professional education with a duration of 3,5 years resulting in 210 ECTS points, Professional Bachelor degree. Entry level is considered equivalent to university bachelor, however a one year bridging diploma is required before undertaking Master, Candidate and PhD education. The association has their own CPD course department. There are 10 physiotherapy schools graduating approx. 900 students per year. the EU 2005 directive makes recognition of education and qualification easy to obtain through the national competent authority.. | ||||||||||||

| TITLE AND REGULATIONS ON THE PROFESSION | Professional Title/ Qualification: Fysioterapeut The professional title is protected. All members must have a authorisation to practice physiotherapy. It is necessary to have agreements with social security authorities to obtain reinbursement for the patients. Rules of professional conduct are established by the Danske Fysioterapeuter who apply jurisdiction. Membership is open to migrant physiotherapists. The professional activity is not protected. The association has developed a code of ethics for physiotherapists. The national authority responsible for the physiotherapy profession in Denmark is the Ministry of Health. The last unemployment statistics is from March 2010 when 1,5 % of the Danish physiotherapists were unemployed. There is no assistance to obtain jobs in Denmark and advertisements appear in the Danske Fysioterapeuter home page and journal. |

Practice of physiotherapy |

| INSURANCE AND PRACTICE REGULATIONS | The physiotherapy services are determined by the profession and the physiotherapist determines the clinical intervention of physiotherapy him/herself. Denmark offers both public and private physiotherapy services. The insurance cover for physiotherapy is paid both through the national health care system and privately by the patient. | ||||||||||||
